Warehousing & Operations - Part 3: How Volo Customers Became Great at Warehousing & Operations

When you have sophisticated warehousing & operations you can eradicate errors and maintain an iron grip on your costs. Companies that are great at warehousing and operations have scanning systems, can handle multiple locations and multiple items in the same location and have streamlined processes. Volo helps companies reduce costs through streamlined warehousing processes and rules-based operational automation. We've previously spoken about best practices in warehousing operations. In this post we look at a number of Volo customers who have profited from getting great at warehousing and operations.

XS- Stock

Multi-category etailer XS-Stock “We were keen on ease of use, integration into eBay and a comprehensive inventory system that could allow locations to be pickable or unpickable depending on the situation. We wanted to have products in various locations, on different height racks and still be able to find them quickly and efficiently, so the chosen vendor’s multi channel inventory management model was really important to us. The cost of running the software was important to us too.

“We’ve got a 25,000 square foot warehouse, and we’ve just done a 750 pallet space increase.  We’re at 21 core staff, and this can expand to 49 for peak periods. We operate a 2-shift system for packers, and they’re all part time, which allows us to expand extremely quickly when we have daily or weekly deals, for example.”

“The three main things that make me the happiest about the Volo partnership are the multiple marketplace control via one interface, the huge efficiency gains and the platform's adaptability to the needs of its clients and the market.

Click Car Parts

Vehicle parts and accessories merchant Click Car Parts uses the Volo software to manage its warehousing and operations and estimates the system saves it 2-3 staff members a year. Mat Reynolds, eCommerce Manager, Click Car Parts: “The Volo system is very easy to use, it’s very intuitive. As I said, I like the fact that everything is in one place. That really simplifies things for us. Also, we see some real efficiencies in our in-house processes.”

Only Global

Sports clothing and accessories retailer Only Global uses Volo's system to manage its warehousing and operations and estimates that it does in 2 months with Volo what would have taken 12 months. Nafees Din, Managing Director, Only Global: I’ve already said it, but the biggest thing for us is control.  Every business needs it, and with Volo you’ve got that control, over your listings, your stock, your reporting, the whole operation.”

Bamford Trading

Home & Garden merchant Bamford Trading uses Volo for managing its warehousing and operations and estimates that automation saves it 33% of its workforce. John Hewitt, Managing Director, Bamford Trading: “The people we save by automating our business processes with the Volo platform are many and varied. It’s hard to quantify exactly but I can list a few ways the system saves manpower. Accounts: at least one person, posting daily sales to the accounts software using a couple of mouse clicks... I could go on but it very easily saves us 3 heads in a 9-head business, so 33% of our workforce.”
